LCFC Legends beat an All Star XI 4-2 on penalties on Saturday afternoon
Marc Albrighton converted one of four spot-kicks en route to victory
The game, raising funds for the VS Foundation, ended 0-0 in normal time
A decade on, the midfielder believes the bonds on the pitch still exist
Albrighton was one of many City favourites in attendance at King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with the 36-year-old comfortably dispatching one of four match winning penalties to edge past an All Star XI after it finished 0-0 in normal time.
Back with the squad from 15/16.
The former Foxes winger certainly rolled back the years displaying flashes of his old-school high-energy that was a staple of Claudio Ranieri’s title winning team.
Going close to breaking the deadlock for the LCFC Legends in the first half, his curled effort from range flew just over the crossbar. In the second half, the link-up that caused earthquakes in Leicester almost connected once more, as he found Leonardo Ulloa with a delightful cross, but the Argentine steered the header just wide of the goal.
Speaking after sealing the win, Albrighton said: “From the moment we’d seen each other yesterday at the training ground, it felt like we’ve not been apart and the memories, the stories, came flooding back.

“You’re remembering things that happened while we were playing together,” he added: “Getting to play with them again as well was fantastic because it was such a great group and a great team to play in.”
Delighted to be back in a Leicester City shirt, Albrighton also reflected on how winning the English top-flight was beyond his wildest dreams, even as a child.
“It’s hard to explain,” the ex-Foxes midfielder added. "I think when you start as a young boy, you dream of playing at the top level and playing in the Premier League. I don’t think I ever dreamt of winning it so to go on and do that is something I didn’t think was possible.
Returning to action on Filbert Way was a special feeling for the former Foxes winger.
“I think the longer your career goes on, the more you appreciate it and you see the teams that are there or there abouts now and the fact that we more than competed with them and blew them out of the water that season is obviously a credit to us.”
Fast forward to today, Albrighton was happy to see that the bonds he’d made on the pitch all those years go were still the same, even if they weren’t quite as devastating as in their heyday, while the atmosphere created by the fans made the day even more special.
“[We were] a little bit slower but it's good,” he added. “I played a lot with Christian [Fuchs] that season and to play with him again today was fantastic.
“You've got Drinky (Danny Drinkwater) and Kingy (Andy King) in the middle and the boys at the back as well, it’s good that we had a good turnout for it.”
