Moving up to fifth in the U18 Premier League South Division, following a 2-1 win over Southampton midweek, the coach was delighted with the team’s fight to end a busy period on a high.
Having previously drawn with Brighton & Hove Albion, and lost to Tottenham Hotspur, in the days building up to this game, he thinks it is important to head into Easter on the back of three points.
“It was a good display in difficult conditions,” Barradell stated. “The weather was really difficult and there was a stoppage in the game, where we had to stop for a period of time, so I thought the lads did well and dealt with that.
Owusu scored twice in our win against the Saints.

“It’s been a busy period for the boys; we played Brighton last Tuesday, Tottenham on Saturday and then Southampton yesterday. It's a draw, a loss and a win from three games where we probably should’ve come out with two wins and a loss.
“It’s been a busy period, but a good period. The boys have done well, but yesterday, it was nice to finish off the busy period, before the Easter break, with a win.”
Heading towards the final run-in of the season, the coach wants to keep the positive results flowing, to end as high as we can in the table, but believes it is also an important time to offer opportunities to the next group of youngsters breaking through.
“We’ve got six games left,” Barradell continued. “So it’s important to go into each game getting points, to finish as high as we can. We’re fifth in the league which is really competitive this year.
The win in Seagrave moves us up to fifth in the standings.

“We also want to continue bringing some youth players through the group, as we have been all year, but it’s really positive heading into the last bit of the season.
“Our aim is to finish as high as possible and finish strong. We want to give those younger lads opportunities, and keep the individual players that are performing well, developing.
“You’ve seen players move on now; Michael Toko and Lorenz Hutchinson have transitioned now to the Under-21s, so we’re looking at the next lads to step up.
“It was great to see Bismark Owusu, he scored two goals, and, since Christmas, he’s scored quite a few goals. He’s a player that’s performing well at the moment.”

Finally, the Under-18s coach shared his praise for young forward, Hutchinson, who netted on his England Under-18s debut this week, in a 4-1 win over Bulgaria.
Barradell commented: “Everyone in the Academy is delighted for Lorenz [Hucthinson] and how proud we are of him. He’s had an excellent season, played all year for the Under-18s last year, and developed really well.
“He’s had a tremendous season with the amount of goals and assists he’s got at an Under-18s level, and he’s carried that on to the Under-21s.
“He’s hunger and desire to learn, take on information and apply himself everyday has been outstanding this year, and he’s been the captain for the Under-18s this season which is really pleasing.
“To cap that off with a debut goal for England is brilliant, and everyone in the Academy is delighted for him.”
