It’s been a busy week at Belvoir Drive with Passmoor coming in to lead the team’s preparations for the new campaign, alongside of raft of Deadline Day arrivals. Deals were confirmed for Emily van Egmond, Cecily Wellesley-Smith, Olivia McLoughlin and Rosella Ayane before the window shut on Thursday evening.
The new season begins in earnest, too, with a trip to Leigh Sports Village to tackle Man Utd on Sunday (12pm BST kick-off). Ahead of that contest, Passmoor sat down with the media earlier this week to take stock on the week so far and look ahead to Sunday.
‘Some significant strides’

Passmoor has been pleased with what he’s seen in training this week, complimenting the players on their application and commitment to learning new ideas.
“It’s been a bit of a whirlwind, but I’m really pleased to be here, with so many good people, good staff and good footballers,” he explained. “The mindset is now to come in, complete your work to the best of your ability, and come in here to do a professional level of football.
“All the players have adapted accordingly to what we want. We've made some significant strides in how we wish to play and it’s been a pleasure working with them over the last couple of days.
“It's always good to start with a result. But it’s only one game of 22. Therefore, it’s not the be all and end all. It doesn’t make our season, or break our season. We’re going there to be competitive. We go into every game to get a result and represent the city of Leicester to the best of our ability.”
‘Putting things in place’

Passmoor is aware that there are short-term and long-term focuses at present at Belvoir Drive, but is working to manage both as we approach an exciting new season.
“I think every club have their own identity and playing style,” he added. “That’s why it’s so unique. That’s why, on a Monday, everybody wants to talk about football because of the variables and the differences and stuff like that.
“They had their scheme of work, they had their processes, and every club has their own identity. Obviously what we’ll look at doing in the short term is ensuring that we have an identity and people see what we’ve already implemented within our training only in a couple of sessions.
“You’ll see that the players have worked incredibly hard. I’ve had a positive mindset and we’re looking forward to donning the shirt this Sunday. Straight away, [you impress] your personality, your character, so players enjoy being in and around Leicester City.
“We’ve got to ensure we have processes, how we want to play the game in and out of possession, and we’ve been touching on that. We’re not expecting massive strides to start with, but hopefully we’re putting things in place, ready for the long-term.
“You have to work with the players that are in front of you. The strategies will be implemented by the Club themselves. At the moment, I’m here to look to look after this team for this Sunday. I’m loving every moment of being in the building.”
‘Be competitive’

Standing up to the challenge of tackling an impressive Red Devils team is the immediate priority for Passmoor, who wants to see signs of development in the performance.
“It's a bonus if we can get a win,” he said. “Our mentality is to be competitive and get a result. At the moment, we’re looking at the processes of how we want to play with the ball in possession, and out of possession.
“Can we see that already come this Sunday after a couple of times training? If we get an outcome, great, that’s what we’re all here for. We’re competitive sportspeople.
“We’ll be looking forward to that, but the main part is what we’re working on in the development on the pitch… that we see that grow on the pitch itself on Sunday.”
