The 26-year-old shot-stopper is making the move to England after two seasons with Real Betis, where he made eight UEFA Europa Conference League appearances last term as Los Verdiblancos reached the final of the competition.
Now joining Martí Cifuentes’ Sky Bet Championship outfit, the Spanish-born ‘keeper is hoping to impress at a ‘massive club’ under a Manager whose ideas excite him.
“It’s a very big step for my career,” Vieites said after agreeing terms with City this week. “I’m very happy to join this massive club and I want to start working, meet my colleagues and to try and enjoy the first three points.
“I’m very excited [to play in England]. It’s the best version of football. Each league has different ways to play. The project is massive. They are doing a great job, the coaches, with a way to play football that I like. It’s like a mix of Spanish football and English football. That’s the way I like to play football.”

Having spoken already with Cifuentes during this international break, Vieites is looking forward to working with his new Manager, to meet his team-mates and bring his own attributes to an already-talented goalkeeping union in Seagrave.
“I talked to [Cifuentes] on the phone,” he explained. “I like the way he plays football. I like the way he expresses himself and I think we’ll do a great job.
“I’m very excited [to meet the other goalkeepers at the Club]. I’m trying to always improve and, for sure, I will learn something every day with them and the youngsters and the goalkeeper coaches. I’d describe myself as brave and [calm] at the same time. I’m always trying to communicate with my defence, my team-mates.

“I like to be brave in crosses or at the back of the defence, giving cover, and playing with both of my feet and the most important thing for a goalkeeper is to stop the ball of course. I’ve learned that every game is like the last game of your life.
“It’s maximum competition in the highest level, so you cannot disconnect any moment from the game. They can score a goal from anywhere, so everything starts in the moments where you are connected. I doesn’t matter if it’s the semi-final of the Conference League, or a regular league match, that’s the most important thing for me.”
Now eager to play in front of the Blue Army, the former Betis goalkeeper had a message for the Foxes’ fans – that he will give his all for the cause.
“I promise that I will give my best every day, every match, and I’m sure we will have fun,” he added. “And the way that I have fun is winning!”
