LCFC Women held to a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon against Crystal Palace
The hosts came from behind twice at VBS Community Stadium
Hannah Cain and Shannon O’Brien scored for the Foxes
Amandine Miquel admits the team must perform better on the road next season
Last weekend’s draw on the road means that we end the 2024/25 campaign without a win away from home, and having taken the lead twice in the game, the Manager believes this should’ve been accomplished.
But the relegated Eagles came back twice, the second time in the 98th minute to make sure the points were shared at VBS Community Stadium. “It wasn’t a good game, and we didn't do very well in either of the two halves,” Miquel admitted. “We got a point out of it and maybe it’s more than what we deserved.
Hannah Cain opened the scoring in Sutton.
“As long as half of the games are away from home, we’ll be in trouble if we can’t win them next season. We need to do better in all of the games, but we have to perform better to get more wins.
“This end of season was a good opportunity for us to do a bit better and we haven’t taken the chances, so the only possibility now is next week.”
Analysing what has been a tough first season in English football, with a squad riddled with injuries, the former Stade de Reims Manager knows which areas need addressing to improve in the 2025/26 campaign.
Crystal Palace came back twice to earn a point.
Miquel added: “We already know what we need to improve and today is the same team, pretty much, as we started the season with, so we know what we lack and what we need to improve in the summer.
“It’s been a tough first season and we’re under where we wanted to be and what we wanted to build so hopefully we can start fresh again next season with less challenges.”
