LCFC Women drew 1-1 with Everton on Sunday afternoon
Noémie Mouchon netted a late equaliser for the Foxes
We have four points from our opening five WSL games
Rick Passmoor shared his thoughts after full-time at King Power Stadium
Refusing to let the visitors take the points at the weekend, City battled hard in the second half to rescue a draw against the Toffees, taking our tally up to four for the season.
Noémie Mouchon was the player to thank for the Leicester strike, but City's Interim Manager believes the positive ending at King Power Stadium was a testament to the squad as a whole.
“I'm really proud of the players to come from behind and get a point and change the momentum,” Passmoor explained. “Everton are a good team with good players and they did well with possession.
“The players' attitude was great, fighting to win the ball back and if the game had gone on another five or 10 minutes, you probably would’ve fancied our chances.
“Today we can still reflect on our learning and our growth because there are times we did well and others that we need to do better in, but there has to be massive credit to the players and the whole squad.
“They all put a shift in which is the minimum you do for Leicester City, and I’m really pleased for them.”
Coming off the pitch at half-time with the scores still level, we had failed to threaten the Everton ‘keeper with a shot on target, and this was something addressed during the team talk.
Proud of the willingness to take the learning on board, the Foxes rallied and pushed Brian Sørensen's side all the way, earning a well-deserved point at home.
Passmoor commended the second half effort.
“I asked them if we could get into the final third a bit quicker,” Passmoor continued. “Can you play to the forward line, and could they help us getting control, because it in the first half we were a little bit static.
“But in the second half the momentum shifted, and we had sustained pressure on their defence. The players deserve it because they have a great attitude and long may that continue.”
Mouchon joined Leicester in the summer of 2024, but after impressing during a pre-season trip to Australia, was unfortunate to suffer an ACL injury, keeping her sidelined for the majority of the previous campaign.
Now back with a point to prove, it was an emotional moment for the French centre forward who scored her first goal for the Club, but Passmoor emphasised the win was a credit to the team, not an individual.
“It’s all about the squad, whether you start or finish you do everything you can in the time you have,” Passmoor added. “It was great today to see that I could change and rotate, and everyone had an impact today.”
