Arsenal the victors over LCFC Women on Tuesday evening
The scores ended 5-1 in favour of the hosts at Emirates Stadium
Janice Cayman discussed the loss shortly after full-time in London
A career flooded with valuable experience doesn’t mean there aren’t still lessons to take from games for Cayman, who stated exactly that in her post-match interview at Emirates Stadium.
Conceding five goals is never a nice feeling, even against one of the league’s best, but Cayman encourages her team-mates to look back on the game and reflect on their individual performances.
“This was a tough night for us, and it was pretty early when they managed to score and then it was just one after another,” the captain admitted.
Head-to-head with the Gunners.
“It’s always hard to come back from that, especially when we didn’t have our best day and Arsenal certainly did.
“At half-time, we wanted to stay in the game and treat it like it was 0-0 again but unfortunately, they scored two other goals, but we scored too.
“That was a positive, but the spaces were too big today and we made it too easy for them.”
With the season drawing to a close, the fixtures get no easier for the Foxes, with a home match against Manchester City at King Power Stadium up next. Using the Arsenal defeat as a lesson, Cayman hopes Leicester can produce a better performance against another top WSL side.
Under the lights at Emirates Stadium.
“Defensively we work hard to try and make the spaces small but that didn’t work tonight but then it’s hard to try and counter attack,” she continued.
“It’s something we need to work on against the bigger teams but sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn’t.
“We know it’s another good team again but there’s a lot of things we can learn from this game. We need to be more switched on for the game against Man City.”
