Beth Hepple gave the visitors a lead at King Power Stadium, however the turnaround was complete inside the first 45 minutes when Paulina Nyström, Jess Ziu and Asmita Ale all found the target. Durham got themselves back in the game through Jade Pennock but an own goal on 87 minutes settled the scoreline and any last-minute nerves.

Making two changes from the Leicester side that beat Sheffield United on the opening day, Libby Bance came in to replace the suspended Emilia Pelgander, while Simone Sherwood was deployed at centre-back alongside Jessie Stapleton, with Leah Eddie ruled out of the fixture with a sprain.

New signings make their mark

Six of our summer recruits were introduced to the Leicester faithful, with Bance making her full debut in City colours. Showing a strong grasp on the game early on, it was the visitors who took the lead, with Hepple rounding off an impressive counter-attack.

After this, the Foxes went searching for a response and found it through Nyström, who was clinical from close range, after Sam Tierney's low ball into the path of the Finnish international.

The lead was then firmly in the hosts’ hands, first of all when Missy Goodwin's cross was volleyed home by Ziu before Ale stole the headlines with an outrageous effort from outside the box, which clipped the post on its way in.

With a strong lead heading into the second period, Durham came out fighting for a way back, and did reduce the deficit when Pennock found the net in the final 20 minutes.

Sensing a chance to get something from the match, they pushed hard as the clock went by, but late on Nyström settled any nerves in the stadium when she drove into the box and looked to pull the ball back into the danger area.

Unable to deal with the low cross, it was Durham captain Sarah Wilson, who got the final touch when she couldn't sort her feet out quick enough, and saw her attempted block turn into the back of the net.

Two wins from two

We're back home again next weekend.

Last weekend, we held on for our first away win of the season, and this Sunday saw Leicester bring that momentum home, as we cruised past Durham to take another three points.

Two wins from two places us second in WSL2, with a 100 per cent record that is behind Sunderland on goal difference alone, meanwhile, Durham continue their search for their first points of the term.
