The Tractor girls make the trip to King Power Stadium unbeaten in WSL2, but also winless. In his analysis of the East Anglian side, our Manager urged his team to maintain the current confidence and win their individual duels.

Ahead of matchweek three, here are the main talking points from Friday’s press conference at Belvoir Drive…

‘Grateful for the fans’

Commending the supporters for their efforts.

In a division where anyone can beat anybody, Passmoor knows how important it is to have six points already on the board at this early stage.

Looking to keep that momentum going on Filbert Way this Sunday (3pm BST kick-off), he explains how important the fans have been, and will be, for any future success this year.

“It’s small steps at this stage,” he stated “No medals are won in September. It’s a process and we need to ensure we’re playing the style we want to play and that is witnessed by everybody.

“When anybody comes to King Power Stadium, they raise their game, and so will Ipswich who I think are on good form. They’re well-coached and well-balanced.

“They’ll come with a game plan and on paper, so far, I think it’ll be our toughest game. The fans have backed the team continuously through thick and thin so to reward them with four goals and three points was brilliant.

“We want to continue and maintain that, and if we do, we’ll be able to drive attendances forward. We’re very grateful for the fans, and we want to keep putting a smile on their faces and making sure they are connected to our values and enjoy coming down to Filbert Way.”

‘Be more ruthless’

The Foxes put four past Durham last time out.

Talking more on the philosophy and style of play expected from Leicester this season, the Manager admitted it is a work in progress that will take time before properly coming to fruition.

But he has been delighted with the early signs of improvement from his team, impressed with the learnings the players are taking on board.

Passmoor added: “You look at the game against Sheffield United and then again against Durham; there is small progression in each. What we need to do is be more consistent.

“At Bramall Lane, we had a lot more possession which is our plan, and then against Durham we looked at our box entries and how we can create chances. We scored four last weekend, but we want to be more ruthless.

“Momentum will swing in any game, and it’s being able to manage those moments, and in the last five or 10 minutes against Durham we did that, but we now look ahead.

“We go again, those two games are over and now we need to grow from them, learn from them, so that we are ready to face Ipswich on Sunday.”

‘A tough game’

Keeping up the intensity.

We met Ipswich last season in a League Cup match which ended 5-1 in our favour. But with a busy summer for both outfits, the Manager believes this weekend will be much more evenly matched.

“When you look at them, they have developed a lot since last season, and they have recruited really well,” Passmoor continued.

“They’ve got depth, and what we’ve seen is that they’re a team that are balanced and well-coached, by staff who know how to do their jobs.

“Once more, we need to be better than the opposite player, and if we do that, we’ll come out on top. But it’ll be a tough game this weekend.”
