Hoping for a record fifth WSL win of the campaign, Miquel discussed LCFC Women’s current form and analysed our next opponents, Tottenham Hotspur.
Six points above safety, and unbeaten at King Power Stadium in 2025, the French Manager is relishing the confidence that is flowing on Filbert Way, but understands how quickly things can change in football, and urges her team to remain vigilant.
Here are the main talking points from Thursday’s press conference…
‘We need to focus on what we can do’
Moving forward.
Moving forward.
The buzz following last weekend’s win over Brighton & Hove Albion has become infectious around the East Midlands this week, as City aim for a four home wins on the bounce.
Excited about what Sunday might bring, the former Stade de Reims manager is looking to keep her side focused on the challenge at hand and what they can control.
“We need to win a certain number of games out of the 22,” Miquel stated. “The objective is to do better season after season; if they come three or four in a row then great, but what is important is that they do come.
“I don’t mind when and where as long as we have enough wins at the end. We are not there yet, and we just need to focus on training and what we can do.
“If, by the end of the last game, we are where we want to be, it will be a reward but also a lesson that if the players can do that again when the league starts again, then it’s going to be even better.”
‘Prepare like any other game’

This weekend’s visitors arrive to the East Midlands in disappointing form, without a point in their last six.
But Miquel understands that each football game is different and that there are many ways to look at how a team’s run can affect their mentality heading into the next.
“We are in a good moment, and they are not, but that can become a moment where we are relaxed, and they are turning things around,” Miquel continued.
“There is not just one way to see things and we are preparing like any other game to do our best and make sure that when we come out, we have no regrets.”
‘Keeping my team motivated and happy’

After a more difficult first half of the campaign, City have come back after Christmas with a fight and desire to stay in the division.
Six points ahead of bottom-placed Crystal Palace, and with five games left to go, Miquel opted to say that when building something, it takes time.
“I’m not so much of a person that plans and looks at the table, and thinking if we win we go above them, but instead performances,” the Manager explained.
“[I'm] keeping my team as motivated as I can and as happy as I can. The rest is the normal evolution of things if you make sure the content of making a consistent team is there.
“Sometimes it takes six months or a year or maybe more, but it’s important that you see growth. It has taken us time to get going this season but we’re getting there now and I’m sure the evolution will be seen.”
