Not many teams have managed to stay equal with the current WSL leaders for so long, but three late strikes stretched out the Citizens’ lead at the summit while our hunt for a second league win continues.
Speaking about the result post-match, McLoughlin remained proud of her team-mates for the efforts, but believes tightening up on individual pieces could make the difference going forward.
“It’s frustrating to lose 3-0 considering we were drawing for so long,” the midfielder stated. “We really put our body on the line so we’re disappointed, but it shows a lot of character from us.

“The first 45 was tough but we showed we could defend well and stop their strengths, so we were positive going into the second half for sure.
“We were hoping to carry on that momentum but unfortunately, we couldn’t, and they got their goals.
“It came down to individual moments; one was a set piece, so we need to tighten up on that, which is why it’s frustrating because as a team we have done so well.”
The former Rangers player understands the team must analyse this performance and learn from mistakes, but she is remaining confident that we can head into the Christmas break on a high, as London City Lionesses make the trip to King Power Stadium this Sunday.
“We go into every game with the same mindset, and focus on what we can do well,” McLoughlin continued. “It’s always a tougher challenge against a top four or five side but we always believe we can get something.

“At times it’s tough, and we’re in a transition period, where we’re trying to show the league and everyone what we’re about.
“But we need to keep defending and playing in our block as we do. But for me, I’m enjoying my time here so far and love starting in the WSL.
“It’s been an enjoyable first few months, and hopefully after Christmas we’ll be able to get going again like we did at the start of the season.
“But we're remaining positive for our final game (against London City Lionesses) and hopefully we can take the positives forward, have a bit more of the ball and take at least a point, if not a three into Christmas.”
