  • Hlín Eiríksdóttir and Finland exit competition after loss to Switzerland
  • Janice Cayman and Sari Kees eliminated with Belgium
  • Wales beaten by Group D leaders France
  • Jutta Rantala aiming for progression with Finland
Matchday two has come and gone for our LCFC Women stars currently out in Switzerland for this year’s Euros, with some, unfortunately, eliminated from the competition at this stage.
Among those is Hlín Eiríksdóttir, who was an unused substitute, so had no choice but to watch her Icelandic team-mates fall to a 2-0 reverse to the hosts, sealing their fate after back-to-back losses.
Finland still have a chance to qualify for the knockout stages.

She is now aiming for pride in their last game, when they take on Norway on Thursday evening (8pm), as will be defensive pairing Janice Cayman and Sari Kees, whose Belgium side head for the exit after their recent loss to the favourites, Spain.
Cayman hit the bar in a contest which saw the Red Flames score twice, but all eyes now turn to their final game against Portugal on Friday evening (8pm kick-off) at Stade de Tourbillon.
Wales are another side yet to get going on their Euros debut, most recently falling to a 4-1 defeat to France, in which Hannah Cain came off the bench, while Olivia Clark was replaced too.
Wales final Group D test sees them take on the Lionesses this Sunday evening.

Their last chance to get some points on the board is on Sunday when they face England, who turned their form around with an emphatic 4-0 win over the Netherlands on Wednesday evening.
The last Fox we’re keeping an eye on is Jutta Rantala, who was once again a second-half substitute, this time in a narrow 2-1 loss to the Norwegians. Although, despite this result, Finland’s dreams of reaching the knockout stages remain a possibility, after their first-round win against Iceland.
Their all-important match will see them take on the hosts at Stade de Geneve (8pm kick-off) this Thursday, where only a win will guarantee their continuation at the Euros – good luck, Jutta!
