LCFC Women beaten 1-0 by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon
The Foxes head back to Brisbane Road this weekend Adobe Women’s FA Cup action
Rick Passmoor shared his thoughts on the game and the three debutants
Limiting the home side to just two shots on target across the whole game, the 1-0 scoreline was decided by an unfortunate first half own goal from debutant Ashleigh Neville against her former side.
But speaking after the game, the Manager remained confident in his side's abilities, and the immediate impact the new players are having on the squad.
“We’re disappointed with the outcome of the result, and with the goal that we’ve conceded because we should be doing better,” Passmoor admitted.
We lost out 1-0 to Tottenham at the weekend.
“But what we can reflect, is that you can see, in such short time, the impact of the new signings, and also how we want to play.
“In and out of possession there were some good parts to it, so we need to start being able to manage that over the 90 minutes.
“Once we’re up in the final third, we need to work on our link-up and movement, and if we can’t create an opening, retain possession and change the point of attack.”
It was a day of debuts in our first game back after the break, with Neville, Sarah Mayling and Emma Jansson all featuring during the defeat to Spurs.
There were three City debutants at Brisbane Road.
With the youngest of the three being 28-years-old, it shows the Club’s ambition to add vital experience to the team, as the Manager also discussed what they look for in new recruits.
“We brought those players for their experience and quality on and off the pitch,” Passmoor continued. “You saw calmness and quality and I’m pleased with what they delivered today.
“We want to make sure that every position, and in every training session, we’re competitive. The high-level performance environment is what we’re striving for, so that each day the players want to be better than the day before.
“One of the main things for us is the characteristics and leadership value that we want to add to this squad, and you can see that already with the three that played today.”
