LCFC Women lost out to West Ham United on Sunday afternoon
The final result was 2-1 in favour of the London outfit
Five players made their home debuts at King Power Stadium
Manager Rick Passmoor reacted to the loss at full-time
Back at King Power Stadium for the first time in 2026, it ended in defeat for Passmoor’s side, we put the pressure on late but couldn’t prevent the Hammers from taking the points back to the capital.
Speaking post-match with the media, the Manager looked at the positives from City's performance but understands the fans’ frustration with an eighth loss of the campaign.
“I think if you look at the performance, you can see the improvements, such as in possession,” Passmoor explained. “We dominated large parts of play, and of course, we’re disappointed.
City lost out to West Ham at the weekend.
“But you can see what we’re trying to do, but we want to share our appreciation for the fans. I don’t think anyone can leave the game not proud of how we played.
“The staff and players have all done really well, but we regroup and go again in the week ahead.”
On a day of four home debuts, and another debut off the bench, the Manager was impressed with what he saw from his new recruits, stating that the purpose for the signing was more than what they can do on the pitch.
“All of the new players did very well and had a good impact on our play,” Passmoor continued. “Even into the second half, we changed how we were playing and had a lot of effective play in the last 10 minutes, so we were pleased with parts of our play.
“What you don’t get to see is the personality around the building and the character they bring.
“They’ve been around the game a long time so bring valuable experience. You saw that with the number of touches and passes inside the final third they had, so they’ll only help us further.
There were five home debuts on Sunday.
“We know it’s tough at the moment, but long-term, we’re going in the right direction.”
With our trip to Emirates Stadium, originally scheduled for this Saturday, rearranged for a new date, it gives Passmoor an extra week preparation to get the team, including our new players, up to full speed.
Welcoming Manchester United to King Power Stadium on Saturday 7 February (12pm GMT kick-off), the Manager hopes to see the same fighting spirit from his side.
He added: “You have to be honest. We’ll look at the game, but if you look at the goals, it comes down to transitional breakaways.
“We have to be winning our duels, and for the most part we did. They scored two goals today which were enough to settle the game, but they’re goals we can do better with.”
