Hamza Choudhury reflects on Leicester City's 2-0 win over Birmingham City

Choudhury is confident City will only get better under Martí Cifuentes

Goals from Abdul Fatawu and Ricardo Pereira were the difference on Filbert Way, propelling the Foxes towards the upper end of the Sky Bet Championship table ahead of the international break.
Highlighting the difficulty of playing against teams who deploy a man-on-man approach against us, Choudhury was pleased with the way Leicester were able to see out an important three points.
“It’s massive,” the Academy graduate explained. “I think we said before the game, going into an international break, it’s important to leave with a good feeling. Three wins out of four is a good start. We know we’ve got a lot to build on, but winning games is why we get paid.
“We know teams come here and, a lot of the time, they go man-to-man so it’s difficult to play against teams like this. They were high-energy. You’ve got to win games how you’ve got to win them.
“Over the last two games, I think we’ve shown that we’ve got that grit, determination, that fight. Most importantly that team spirit to get over the line in these games. The gaffer’s been in about [one]-and-a-half months, so we’re going to get better.
“We’re still learning the ways he wants to play, so we’re sure we’re going to get better, but it’s so important to win when you’re not at your best, and that’s what we did.
“We put them on the back foot in the first 15 minutes. We knew they were going to come flying out the traps and we nullified that. When Abdul scores goals like that, it settles everyone and we can build our way into the game.”
With his son in the stands watching on, Hamza was especially proud to skipper City on Friday night, as his long association with the Club continues.
“I’ve been here 20 years now,” he added. “My little boy’s here watching me. He just came from his training at Leicester, so it’s something I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid to have my little boy here with my family, it’s amazing.”
