  • LCFC Legends Steve Walsh and Ali Mauchlen visited a walking football session at St Margaret’s Pastures
  • The session is run by Leicester City in the Community, and is for people aged 55+
  • Walking football supports physical fitness while offering valuable social interaction
  • The legends joined in the game and shared time with participants afterwards
Walking football is designed to help people aged 55 and over remain fit, active and mobile in a safe and inclusive environment.
Beyond the physical benefits, the programme has become a wonderful social activity, offering participants the chance to connect with others, build friendships and enjoy football in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
During the visit, Steve Walsh and Ali Mauchlen joined attendees for the session, getting involved in the game and sharing their love of football with the group.
Their presence added a special touch to the day, creating memorable moments for everyone involved. Following the session, the pair joined participants in the clubhouse for a coffee, where football memories of the pair were shared by participants.
“It was great to get involved today and see the sense of community that has been created here,” Walsh commented on his involvement in the session.
Leicester City in the Community runs a number of sessions at St Margaret’s Pastures as part of an ongoing partnership with the centre, which provides excellent facilities and a supportive environment for many community activities, including walking football.
“We had a fantastic time, and look forward to supporting the walking football programme more in the future,” added Mauchlen.
