Last Saturday’s Sky Bet League One home match was our designated Everyone’s Game fixture, celebrating the people and communities who have shaped football across Leicester, from pioneering players who broke new ground and changed representation at the Club, to those inspiring the next generation.
The campaign also looked at the game in Leicester today across all levels, shining a light on community groups and the people who dedicate their time to making football happen across the city, including at grassroots club Beaumont Park Football Club, who are very much a part of that story.
Founded in 2015, Beaumont Park FC has grown to support nearly 400 young players in the Beaumont Leys area. The club prides itself on bringing together children from a wide range of cultures and ethnic backgrounds, promoting inclusion, equality, and a strong sense of community.
By offering affordable football and subsidising some costs where possible, the club aims to ensure that financial pressures and the rising cost of living do not prevent children from participating.
Above all, Beaumont Park FC provides a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment where young people can develop their footballing skills, build confidence, make friendships, and thrive both on and off the pitch.
And players from the club’s Under-10s team enjoyed a day to remember on Filbert Way, invited to have a team photo pitchside and soak up the atmosphere prior to kick-off at King Power Stadium.
Meeting City players in the tunnel, they headed out together for the pre-match handshakes before sitting back in the stands to watch the game, which saw the Foxes claim a 2-1 victory over Doncaster in League One.
Elsewhere on the day, Leicester City in the Community showcased some of its ongoing work in the city, including its Active Women and Football Welcomes programmes, as well as a football boot and kit donation drive, as supporters directly helped support people involved in the programme.
A programme of live entertainment in the Fan Zone celebrated our communities and cultures, too, alongside specially selected offerings of Asian-inspired and Afro-Caribbean street food, which was a big hit with supporters.
