Jack Rodoni’s early glancing header worried the home side early on, while Haji Wright also went close, but the Foxes gradually found their rhythm and ended the contest pressing for a winner. Stephy Mavididi was twice denied by Carl Rushworth, who also kept out debutant Julián Carranza’s late header.
Rushworth produced nine saves – the most of his career – to frustrate City, although both teams carved out opportunities that could have tipped the balance. In the end, they shared the spoils, each staying in the early play-off places after six games. A trip to fellow top-six side West Bromwich Albion now awaits the Foxes.
A tactical battle
Leicester City
Martí Cifuentes made four changes to the side that fought back for a 2-2 draw with 10 men at Oxford United last weekend. Harry Winks and Jordan James – making his full debut – added fresh energy in midfield, shaping the flow of the contest.
The first half was a chess match in the centre of the pitch, Leicester probing through the lines while also looking to stretch play wide. The Sky Blues counteracted them well, mind you, and were able to create their own opportunities.
Rudoni’s flicked header was the pick of Coventry’s chances before the Foxes began to push back. Mavididi, James and Ricardo Pereira all saw efforts saved by Rushworth, while Wout Faes’ low drive also called the visiting goalkeeper into action.
Chances at both ends

The second half opened with City under pressure, Stolarczyk needing to react sharply to keep out Rudoni’s powerful strike from inside the penalty area.
Jay Dasilva then slipped in Wright, the Sky Blues’ leading marksman, but the American dragged his shot wide. He’s atop of the league’s goalscoring charts so far, but not today.
Almost immediately, Leicester threatened at the other end. Jordan Ayew found Mavididi in acres of space inside the box, but the winger’s side-footed effort was smothered by Rushworth – a key moment which the game could have hung on.
Late openings

James, on his first LE2 appearance in Leicester blue, was teed up by Abdul Fatawu but struck his own side-footed effort too close to the goalkeeper, while substitute Carranza’s header also fell straight into Rushworth’s gloves.
The introduction of 16-year-old Jeremy Monga was a bright note, the youngster’s pace and trickery unsettling Coventry’s backline, yet neither side could find the finishing touch.
The curtain came down on the first M69 Derby of 25/26 with honours even – preserving our unbeaten King Power Stadium record against Coventry if nothing else. Although the target was for three, it’s nevertheless another hard-fought point and another step forward in Leicester’s campaign.
