Our 25/26 began in promising fashion, remaining unbeaten in Premier League 2 throughout August. Convincingly beating Liverpool 4-2 on the opening day of the campaign, it was followed by back-to-back away clean sheets - a goalless draw at Reading and 2-0 victory over Derby County.

Three different competitions allowed the Foxes youngsters to test themselves in September, though we remained winless across the month. Experiencing playing Juventus and Valencia in the Premier League International Cup, there was also senior opposition to contend with, narrowly defeated by Wealdstone in the National League Cup.

Scoring six in two PL2 fixtures, but conceding nine, the only point picked up came courtesy of a stunning comeback against Blackburn Rovers, impressively coming from three goals down to draw the game.

Falling on the wrong side of such a scenario later that same week, Wolverhampton Wanderers were the beneficiaries, claiming victory despite being 3-1 down with less than 20 minutes to play.

A harsh learning curve for our Development Squad, a very similar fate would befall them in the Premier League Cup later in October when Charlton Athletic roared back from three goals behind in Seagrave to snatch a 4-3 win, also losing out to Preston North End in the same tournament as Leicester fielded a young side filled with talent from our Under-18s.

That tricky run of form was put to bed back in PL2, seeing off Southampton 3-1, off the back of a penalty shootout victory over Forest Green Rovers to get up and running in the National League Cup, claiming an extra group stage point in the process.

A heavy defeat by Manchester City aside, performances have been positive across recent weeks, with a good showing in the Premier League International Cup against Borussia Mönchengladbach ending with a narrow defeat, prior to last Friday’s excellent display seeing Birmingham City beaten 6-2 in Seagrave.

Darren Motsi became PL2’s second youngest-ever goalscorer after finding the net at the age of 15, joined by Lorenz Hutchinson and Kirsten Otchere in scoring their first goals at Under-21 level.

Freddie Marson, Michael Toko and Riley Carr all made their first starts for the Development Squad, while Christian Boothe earned his first taste of PL2 football, as the production line of young talent continues to flow.

PL2 action is now paused until January, with Leicester sitting inside the top 10, having collected 14 points from nine matches in the division.

The Premier League Cup group stage continues prior to the Christmas break, with back-to-back fixtures against Ipswich Town coming up the other side of the international break, followed by facing both Charlton Athletic and Preston North End for a second time.

Currently fourth in Group C, there’s still plenty to play for in the battle to reach the knockout stages.
