  • We have today published our financial statements for the year ended 30 June 2025
  • Revenue increased to £186.5M following the Men's First Team’s return to the Premier League
  • Staff costs as a percentage of turnover improved to 82.0 percent, compared with 101.6 percent in 2023/24
  • Loss before tax of £71.1M reflects increased Premier League costs, alongside lower profit on player sales and other operating income than in the previous year
The 2024/25 accounts cover a season in which our Men’s First Team returned to the Premier League, with revenues increasing significantly across broadcasting, sponsorship and gate receipts.
Revenue for the period increased to £186.5M from £105.3M in 2023/24, driven mainly by broadcasting income, which rose from £54.2M to £117.4M. Sponsorship revenue also increased from £21.5M to £37.3M, while gate receipts rose from £18.4M to £20.3M.
We recorded a loss before tax of £71.1M, compared with £19.4M in 2023/24. While this is significant, the underlying operating position improved year on year, with revenue increasing substantially more than the increase in costs. The year-on-year comparison is then heavily affected by significantly lower profit on player sales and the absence of non-recurring other operating income.
This is highlighted by the Club’s operating loss excluding player amortisation, impairments and player trading which decreased to £17.5M, compared with £35.4M in the previous year. Staff costs as a percentage of turnover reduced to 82.0 percent, compared with 101.6 percent in 2023/24 and 116.0 percent in the previous Premier League financial period in 2022/23.
The Club’s long-term financial security and the support required for the ongoing pursuit of its long-term ambitions continues to be provided by its parent company, King Power International, under the leadership of the Club’s Chairman, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.
Leicester City Chief Executive Kevin Davies said: “These accounts reflect the reality of returning to the Premier League. Our revenues increased significantly during the year, but so too did the costs of trying to compete at that level, and the loss we are reporting is a substantial one.
“While it is natural to look first at that headline number, it is important that it is seen in its full context. The underlying operating position improved year on year as the increase in revenue was substantially larger than the increase in costs. Staff costs as a percentage of turnover reduced to their lowest level since 2017/18. However, the timing of profits generated on player trading and the absence of non-recurring other operating income heavily affects the final reported loss in comparison to the prior year.
“We know supporters want to see Leicester City run responsibly, with the right balance between giving us the best chance of success on the pitch and building greater financial stability for the future. These financial statements show there is still more work to do, and we are clear about that. Improving our financial position over time remains a priority and will continue to shape the decisions we take as a Club.”
