Award recognises outstanding pitch surface quality at King Power Stadium
Judging officiated by EFL referees and the Sports Turf Research Institute

A culmination of hard work and consistency, the Grounds Team of the Season awards are judged on EFL referee feedback and visits from the Sports Turf Research Institute.

The top clubs from each division with the highest divisional average from referee match reports partake in further assessments from the Sports Turf Research Institute to determine the winner.

Our accolade comes after assessment of pitch quality, environmental conditions, usage levels, resource management, and sustainability practices.

Speaking to LCFC.com, Head of Grounds Simon Gibson said: “This award is an outstanding recognition of the team’s relentless work, expertise, and attention to detail across every surface that we deliver.

"The achievement is testament to the dedication of our staff and the support that we receive from across the Club that help us to deliver every day.”

The 2025/26 season has seen extensive use of the surface at Filbert Way, including 23 Sky Bet Championship fixtures for LCFC Men and 11 Barclays Women’s Super League matches for LCFC Women.
