Foxes Futures has launched at Orchard Mead Academy
The initiative is in partnership with The Mead Educational Trust
It provides a safe environment for vulnerable secondary school students
Leicester City in the Community has officially launched Foxes Futures, a brand-new alternative provision based at Orchard Mead Academy. Funded and developed in partnership with TMET, the initiative is designed to support young people across TMET schools who may be struggling with confidence, self-esteem, attendance, or mental health challenges.
The Foxes Futures programme has been running since the start of term in September and provides a safe and secure environment for vulnerable secondary school students, helping them to rebuild their sense of belonging and re-engage with education. Through tailored support and mentoring, the initiative aims to help students reintegrate into school while developing key life and employability skills.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications, including Sports Leaders Awards and Personal Development and Employability qualifications through The King’s Trust. These pathways not only enhance students’ confidence and aspirations but also give them valuable experiences that can support their future education and career goals.
At its heart, Foxes Futures focuses on improving relationships between students and their teachers, peers, and wider community, while continuing to promote positive mental health, engagement, and personal growth.
A driving force behind the project’s development has been Tom Hague, Director of Secondary Education at TMET, whose commitment and vision were instrumental in bringing Foxes Futures to life. His dedication to supporting young people has been recognised nationally; Tom recently received a Community Hero Award as part of the EFL Week of Action last week, for his outstanding contributions to education and community wellbeing.
Leicester City in the Community’s Head of Education, Emma Lowry, said: “The partnership with TMET allows us to use the power of football and education to inspire and empower young people who need it most. Foxes Futures is about providing students with a unique environment to thrive, not just academically, but personally and emotionally too.”
The launch marks another step in our ongoing mission to use sport as a catalyst for positive change, supporting young people to thrive both inside and outside the classroom, and promises to be a flagship programme for the charity.
