Hamza Choudhury helped Bangladesh to a 1-0 success over India in AFC Asian Cup qualifying, days after netting twice in the friendly draw with Nepal.
The 28-year-old scored a bicycle kick, followed by a Panenka penalty five minutes later, as it finished 2-2 in Dhaka, prior to winning his seventh cap by playing throughout their penultimate Group C fixture at Bangladesh National Stadium. Victory moved the Bengal Tigers onto five points from five matches, remaining third in the standings.

In FIFA World Cup qualifying, Jannik Vestergaard’s Denmark had to settle for a play-off spot following a last-gasp 4-2 defeat to Scotland at Hampden Park.
The Foxes centre-back was introduced in the 64th minute, having played throughout a 2-2 draw with Belarus at Parken Stadium.
After Rasmus Kristensen’s red card, an injury-time double saw Steve Clarke’s side automatically qualify for next summer’s tournament by topping UEFA Group C, two points ahead of the Danes in second.
North Macedonia will be their play-off semi-final opponents, who Jordan James’ Wales beat 7-1 at Cardiff City Stadium to finish second in Group J and secure their own spot in the play-offs, where they’ll take on Bosnia & Herzegovina at home next March.

Playing throughout a 1-1 stalemate against Trinidad and Tobago at Hasely Crawford Stadium, the attacker then played 78 minutes in Kingston as the Reggae Boyz drew 0-0 with Curacao, remaining one point behind their opponents in CONCACAF Group B. A play-off awaits.
In Africa, Patson Daka started Zambia’s international friendly against South Africa, playing 83 minutes as the Copper Bullets lost 3-1 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

In UEFA U21 EURO qualifying, Chris Popov came on at half-time but could not prevent Wales Under-21s from falling to a 3-0 defeat to Belarus in Georgia, ending hopes of qualification for the tournament.
England Under-17s exited the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar at the last-16 stage, losing 4-0 to Austria. After starting the 2-0 victory over South Korea in the round of 32, Louis Page came on as a second-half substitute, while Jake Evans remained on the bench in Doha.
Will Daniels’ Canada exited the tournament in the first knockout round, losing 9-8 on penalties to Republic of Ireland following a 1-1 draw. The young Fox remained on the bench having featured throughout the group stage.
More positive news came in the Under-19s age group, with Jeremy Monga introduced as a substitute in both the 7-0 rout of Albania and 4-0 success over Scotland at Raudondvaris Stadium, making it three wins from three in the first stage of UEFA U19 EURO 2026 qualification.

Will Antwi’s Young Lions also saw off Lithuania in Kaunas to top Group 8 with a 100 per cent record and progress into the next qualifying round.
Over in Group 6, meanwhile, Lyndon Turrell played three times, starting twice, for Gibraltar Under-19s, who lost out to Serbia, Croatia and Georgia in their first round qualifiers, finishing fourth.
England Under-20s were held to a 1-1 draw by Japan in Doncaster, with young City full-back Olabade Aluko coming off the bench for the final 12 minutes at Eco-Power Stadium.
Hugo De Lisle played twice for England Under-17s in Dubai, starting the 5-2 victory over USA at Shabab Al Ahli Stadium. An unused substitute throughout the 1-1 draw with Ivory Coast, he came on as a substitute during the 1-1 stalemate with Australia at Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium.
