Leicester City in the Community Engagement Coach, James Walker, won two awards at Charnwood Sports Awards
He was awarded Outstanding Contribution to Sport, Physical Activity and Health, alongside the Club of the Year award for Sileby Juniors
James works within the charity’s Football Development team, helping to create opportunities for young players

James was awarded Outstanding Contribution to Sport, Physical Activity and Health, alongside the Club of the Year award for Sileby Juniors, where he serves as chairman.

James has been a valued member of Leicester City in the Community for several years now, first connecting with the organisation through collaborative delivery with Sileby Juniors. Since joining the team, he has had a huge impact on the development and delivery of Leicester City in the Community’s Skill Centres, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to supporting participants at grassroots level.

James works within the charity’s Football Development team, helping to create opportunities for young players, and being particularly influential in the expansion of girls’ football provision, championing equality in participation and driving new programmes which encourage growth, confidence and continued engagement in sport.

These awards reflect not only James’ personal dedication, but also the strength of collaborative working between community partners. Leicester City in the Community maintains a strong relationship with Charnwood Borough Council, with shared objectives around increasing access to sport, physical activity and positive wellbeing opportunities. Leicester City in the Community delivers multiple sessions and initiatives across the Charnwood area, increasing reach in both local schools and the local community.

James’s recognition at the awards reinforces the value of community-focused delivery and the positive change that can be achieved by committed individuals working within supportive partnerships.
