  • Leicester City in the Community work with between 70 and 100 participants at Holmes Park each week
  • Our official charity has developed a broad programme of activities at the venue in Whetstone
  • Projects include Active Women, walking football, skills centres, holiday camps and support for home educated children
  • Net proceeds from our anniversary game at King Power Stadium on Saturday 30 May will support local causes across Leicestershire
For Leicester City in the Community, the facility has quickly become a thriving hub, helping people of all ages and backgrounds to feel more connected, active and supported.
Home to Leicestershire & Rutland County FA, Holmes Park has become an important base for our official charity since programmes first launched there in September last year.
In the months since, between 70 and 100 participants have engaged with activities at the venue every week, reflecting the growing demand for accessible community provision in the local area.

At Holmes Park, Leicester City in the Community has developed a broad programme of activities designed to bring people together, encourage active lifestyles and create positive experiences.
From children taking their first steps in football to adults using activity as a way to stay connected and improve wellbeing, the sessions delivered each week are helping make the facility a valued part of the local community.
Walking football sessions are helping older participants stay active and connected through regular activity in a welcoming environment. Elsewhere, home educated children are benefiting from dedicated football activities designed to encourage participation and form friendships.
Youngsters from the local area are also developing their skills through Leicester City in the Community’s Skills Centres programme.

Delivered for children aged six to nine and 10 to 13, the sessions provide participants with opportunities to improve technically while building confidence and enjoying the game in a positive setting.
The charity’s work at Holmes Park also places a strong emphasis on inclusion.
The Active Women programme has created opportunities for females from ethnic diverse communities to engage in physical activity while also supporting mental wellbeing and social connection.

By hosting welcoming and accessible sessions, Leicester City in the Community is helping remove barriers to participation and ensuring more women feel comfortable engaging in sport and exercise.
Alongside weekly delivery, the charity has also supported major grassroots events at the venue, including the Leicestershire County Cup Finals, strengthening Holmes Park’s role as a centre for local football and community engagement.
This work forms part of Leicester City in the Community’s mission to use the power of our badge to positively impact lives across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Whether supporting older people through walking football, providing opportunities for young players to develop or helping women build confidence, the programmes are making a meaningful difference.

And as we prepare to celebrate the anniversary of one of football’s greatest-ever achievements later this month, stories like those being created at Holmes Park serve as another reminder of the lasting impact our Club continues to make away from the pitch.
For those attending sessions in Whetstone each week, Leicester City in the Community is providing far more than football.
The charity is creating friendships, improving wellbeing and helping to build stronger communities through the game.
