Norwich City are next up for the Foxes in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday
Martí Cifuentes provided an update on the fitness of the squad in his press conference
Goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk (groin) is set to miss the game at Carrow Road
Victor Kristiansen (knee) will be assessed after picking up a knock against Blackburn
We head to Norwich City this Saturday (3pm GMT kick-off), aiming to end a run of five winless games in the Sky Bet Championship, but will arrive at Carrow Road without No.1 Stolarczyk, who had to be substituted in the midweek draw with Middlesbrough.
A groin injury saw the Polish shot-stopper withdrawn at half-time, with Asmir Begovic coming on for his Foxes debut, making a first competitive appearance since April 2024, while this could also provide an opportunity for Francisco Vieites to be involved for the first time in a Leicester City shirt.
Firstly providing an update on Stolarczyk’s fitness, Cifuentes told the media: “Unfortunately, he picked up a muscular injury in his groin, so we had to do a scan yesterday and the results were clear.
“It’s not a big one but he needs some time to recover. Yes, maybe (he will return after the international break). It’s definitely going to be some weeks.
The full-back was forced off last weekend.
“No one needs to speak about Asmir’s career, he’s so experienced. He brings a lot in terms of leadership and what a good pro he is. He has been very good for the group since his arrival.
“Two days ago, all of us were very disappointed about the outcome of the game, but his calmness, both him and Fran, they will help the team.”
Victor Kristiansen missed Tuesday's encounter following an injury suffered against Blackburn Rovers three days prior, which saw the Denmark international replaced on 64 minutes. The left-back will continue to be assessed, the Spaniard told us.
“He has not been training since he got this knock against Blackburn,” the 43-year-old revealed. “It was an action actually quite early in the game and it was getting worse through the game. Unfortunately, it’s still quite a struggle with his knee and we’re waiting to see how he progresses.”
Another Foxes goalkeeper picked up an injury on Tuesday - Academy prospect Stevie Bausor was forced off during our Under-21s’ clash against Borussia Monchengladbach II at LCFC Training Ground.
“We’re waiting for the latest news,” the Manager revealed. “It seems that there is something in his foot, leg, around his ankle, but we’re waiting on the results.”
