  • Leicester City beat Ipswich Town 3-1 in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday
  • Jordan Ayew scored the third goal of the afternoon at King Power Stadium
  • He felt it was a clinical performance from the Foxes to come away with three points
  • It’s time to build on the result, he added, with Queens Park Rangers up next this weekend
Returning to King Power Stadium following four points from back-to-back away matches, Martí Cifuentes’ men saw off the Tractor Boys with stunning first-half goals from Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Abdul Fatawu backed up by Ayew scoring the third of the afternoon, getting on the end of Ricardo Pereira’s cross.
Jens Cajuste pulled one back for the visitors, though City were able to see it out and banish the midweek frustrations of only coming away from Bristol City with a draw, having held a two-goal advantage at the break.

“On Wednesday, obviously we were leading 2-0, didn’t start the second half well and we struggled,” the Ghana forward commented. “They got momentum and they equalised. Today, we were lucky to be leading 2-0 and we wanted to start the second half really well.
“I think we did that and we were rewarded with a goal. I’m happy to score and I want to thank the team because everyone’s put in the effort for the last three games and we’re unbeaten, so we need to keep going.
“It was a difficult game, we knew that, but we knew we’d have chances. We took our chances and conceded a sloppy goal but, overall, we’ve put in a really good performance and we need to stay positive and keep going.”

Saving a word for Fatawu’s wondergoal from inside his own half, international team-mate Ayew revealed it’s not the first time he’s seen the winger attempt such an audacious effort for club or country, having gone close with a similar strike at Swansea City earlier in the season.
The 32-year-old added: “He has been trying it for years, even in the national team! He’s always doing it and we scream at him, but I think fair play to him for keeping on trying.
“Sometimes we get upset with him but he’s a top player and he plays with instinct. Scoring a goal like this is wonderful and I’m happy for him.”
