This success makes it seven points collected from a possible nine in just eight days, including two away days, as Martí Cifuentes’ men start to climb the Sky Bet Championship.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s third goal in as many outings – an eighth-minute, 25-yard screamer – was our reward for a competitive start on Filbert Way. With two minutes of the first 45 minutes remaining, a true wonder goal was next as Abdul Fatawu nut-megged Jack Taylor and launched it over the top of Town goalkeeper Christian Walton from 65 yards out to spark wild celebrations in the stands.
Jordan Ayew’s close-range finish extended the lead in the 52nd minute and, although Jens Cajuste got one back for the visitors, the Foxes held on to reach eighth in the table, three points adrift of the play-off positions.

The build up to our first goal of the afternoon was a match for the quality of the finish. Oliver Skipp, a man impressing in the middle, won the ball deep in his own half and sprayed it out to Fatawu, lurking on the right channel.
The Ghanaian in turn switched it back, with Stephy Mavididi collecting it on the left. He slid it to Luke Thomas and our No.33 was able to squeeze the ball through to De Cordova-Reid, sitting tight in the centre.
With only a second or two to think it through, De Cordova-Reid planted his boot through the ball, locating the bottom corner, making this the third game in succession where City have taken the lead.
Fatawu magic

We all know what Fatawu is capable of, we’ve seen it before. We’ve even seen him try this before, at Swansea City away, but the woodwork had other ideas.
His hit was preceded by bursting past Jaden Philogene and a cheeky nutmeg of Jack Taylor, deep in Leicester territory. He carried it a little and surveyed the scene, spotting that Walton was off his line. To channel his inner David Beckham, though, the execution had to be inch-perfect.
He made just the right contact with the ball, carving the crisp LE2 air above everyone else beneath, one of them being the helpless, backtracking Walton. Fatawu, mind you, knew it was in. He did, after all, have the best seat in the house. He was able to watch it bounce up and into the roof of the net, before galloping over to the goal and slapping the crossbar in celebration – after being mobbed by his colleagues.
Ayew in on the act
Jordan Ayew
Fatawu, with raw confidence flowing through his veins, played a role in our third goal, bamboozling Leif Davies as he marauded into the box. The ball squirmed away from him, but Ricardo was there to pick up the pieces, squaring it for Ayew to slot home another – his second goal in as many games after scoring in Bristol.
Before kick-off at least, this was an Ipswich team on a high, only beaten once in 10, having also picked up 10 points in their last five away league games, more than in their previous 15 fixtures on the road. A mix-up at the back gave the Tractor Boys one back too, Cajuste capitalising, but after losing a lead on Wednesday, there was steel in this second-half performance to avoid history repeating itself.
That was typified no more than when Jannik Vestergaard and Skipp threw themselves at Clarke to stop him narrowing the arrears further in the latter moments. As Cifuentes said in midweek, this is a Leicester team in the middle of a process, but it’s also a side finding rhythm, confidence and now picking up points.
