Jamaica beaten 4-1 by Panama on Wednesday morning
Bobby De Cordova-Reid came on in the second half
Ismael Díaz scored a hat-trick at the Q2 Stadium
The Reggae Boyz exit the CONCACAF Gold Cup at the group stage
Jamaica's run in the Gold Cup came to an end in the early hours of Wednesday morning, following a defeat to the Group C winners Panama, who took a maximum three points from the game.
A quick-fire brace from Ismael Díaz inside 17 minutes made it a difficult task for Steve McLaren's side, but they managed to halve the deficit before the 30-minute mark through Amari'i Bell of Luton Town.
Unfortunately for the Reggae Boyz, Díaz was on red-hot form in Austin, Texas, and completed his first-half hat-trick before the whistle blew for the break; an 89th-minute goal from Panama's José Rodriguez confirmed the win and qualification, while Jamaica's third-place group finish, in which they picked up one tournament win, brings an end to their involvement.
Leicester City's De Cordova-Reid made his first appearance of the competition, coming on just after the hour-mark for Jonathan Russell, marking his return to competitive action following a spell on the sidelines with injury.
The Foxes forward now returns back to the East Midlands, as our pre-season preparations for the upcoming Sky Bet Championship campaign commences, with our fixtures set to be announced on Thursday.
