The 18-year-old attacking midfielder joins for the 2026/27 season
England youth international arrives subject to league approval

The 18-year-old England youth international will now link up with Russell Martin’s first-team squad ahead of the new campaign.

Speaking to LCFC.com, he said: “I’m delighted to be here. I think it’s a very good opportunity for me and my career. I’m just excited to get going.

“I’m a right winger or a no.10. I like to score goals and assist and take players on. I try to be as exciting as I can for the fans.

“I’ve spoken to the manager about what position I’m going to play, and what I can expect from him and what I need [to do] to get in his team. He’s made me feel welcome and I’m excited to get going with him.

“He’s the type of manager that I like to play for in terms of style of play and hopefully we’ll suit each other.”

A left-footed attacking player capable of operating centrally or from either flank, Howell has been part of Brighton’s Academy since Under-9 level.

He made his Premier League 2 debut at the age of 15 in January 2024 and continued his progress during the following campaign, registering 10 goals and four assists across Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy.

That form included a hat-trick and an assist against Tottenham Hotspur and earned Howell the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for December 2024.

Howell made his senior Brighton debut against Liverpool in May 2025, becoming the youngest player to represent the Seagulls in the Premier League.

After signing his first professional contract that summer, he made his first senior start in a 6-0 Carabao Cup victory over Oxford United and scored his first senior goal in the following round as Brighton recorded another 6-0 win at Barnsley.

His first Premier League start followed against Crystal Palace in February 2026, when he became Brighton’s youngest-ever starter in the competition.

At international level, Howell has represented England from Under-16 through to Under-19 level. He was part of the Young Lions squad for the 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, scoring against Czechia during the group stage.
