Kirsten Otchere notched the only goal of the game as the next period of preparation for our 26/27 Sky Bet League One season continued with victory in southern Spain.

A chance for the travelling Foxes faithful to see our new maroon adidas away kit in person out in southern Spain, the Blue Army who made the trip to Estadio Nuevo Mirador, in the shadow of the Rock of Gibraltar, saw 22 players gain more vital minutes in the heat.

It’s Malaga CF up next for Martin’s men on Saturday, facing the La Liga outfit at the same venue in another 6pm BST kick-off - a game you can watch live on Foxes Hub with a Game Pass.

First impressions

Our two new signings, Conor Chaplin and Alex McCarthy, were both in from the off. After youngster Riley Carr sent one over the bar when the ball fell to him in the box after winning back possession, Chaplin saw a strike blocked to keep the early pressure on.

Shot-stopper McCarthy made a diving save at the other end to deny Ibon Sánchez from the edge of the box, before keeping out Álvaro García Pascual, who had been forced wide to the left, trying his luck from a tight angle.

The 36-year-old would once again stop the forward from opening the scoring towards the end of the half, making another smart save to keep us level at the break, flicking away former Liverpool winger Suso’s effort.

The defining moment

Changing our full XI for the second half, the new look side got on the front foot early doors and in a pre-cursor to the goal, Mavididi sent Otchere through, though the 19-year-old blazed over the top.

The duo soon combined for the goal, however, Mavididi standing up a cross from the left which Otchere guided home after leaping highest inside the six-yard box – netting his third of the pre-season campaign.

With a quarter of an hour to go, Cadiz thought they’d equalised through Jerónimo Dómina, who headed in Sergio Arribas’ cross from a José Gómez Campaña free-kick, shortly before Jakub Stolarczyk saved from Moussa Diakité to maintain another clean sheet.
