We were beaten 2-0 by Norwich City at King Power Stadium on Saturday
That result leaves Leicester City 22nd in the Sky Bet Championship standings
Ricardo Pereira was frustrated with the result and the performance
He says we need to remain focused on work hard to climb the table
Saturday’s 2-0 reverse to Norwich City at King Power Stadium ended a two-game stretch of consecutive draws for Gary Rowett’s Leicester City, who remain 22nd in the Sky Bet Championship. With just 11 games remaining, the time is now to start building momentum, picking up results and climbing the table. It’s an away trip to promotion-chasing Ipswich Town next up, before successive home games – against Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers – as we look to repair our form as soon as possible.
“We’re disappointed,” Ricardo said after Saturday’s defeat, leaving us one point adrift of West Bromwich Albion, in 21st. “We’re not happy with the result and our performance. We knew it would be an important game for us at home, in front of our fans, after two away games. “But we didn’t make the most of it, we didn’t get the result that we wanted, so we’re disappointed. We spoke at half-time that we needed a little bit more energy, more tempo, with and without the ball. Our second half was worse than our first.
“We didn’t create as much. You need to have the control of the game and sometimes the game was a bit up and down. It’s a difficult one. We’re disappointed. We wanted to do better and we need to do better.”
It’s now about moving on, Ricardo says, focusing on what can be achieved over the coming weeks and months, with a need for players to step up and meet the challenge head on.
He added: “We’re disappointed today, but tomorrow, we have to think about the next training, the next game. The support of our fans will be important in these final games.
“We have a lot to play for and we have to give our best every day. That’s non-negotiable. Everyone has to step forward.
“Of course, the senior players, if we can help the youngsters focus on what we need to do, on the pitch and off the pitch, then we’ll be in the best shape, the best possible way of playing the games.
“That’s what we need to do – we need to focus, try to focus on that. There’s a lot of things we cannot control and we have to focus on what we can do and on our work.”
