Oliver Skipp spoke to CITY to preview the run into the New Year

The battling midfielder spoke about the all-important run over the festive period and shared his thoughts on our current position as we approach the halfway stage of the Sky Bet Championship season.

Admitting there are still areas in our play which need to improve, the former Tottenham Hotspur man feels confident in his team-mates’ ability to start getting more points from tight games.

“There’s a lot of improvement that still needs to happen,” Skipp explained. “We need to be a bit more consistent with performances because there’s been periods where we’ve had good halves but maybe not backed them up with a full 90-minute one.

Skipp believes there is more to come from this team.

“There is lots to look forward to and it feels like we can start building some momentum. We’re still a bit disappointed and we need to focus on trying to push up the table to where us as players, the fans and everyone at the Club expects us to be.

“We need to keep pushing forward now.”

Leicester fell to a 4-1 defeat to QPR in London last time out and will look to make amends to that Loftus Road performance on Boxing Day when Watford are the visitors to King Power Stadium (3pm GMT kick-off).

Too early to be reading too much into league positions, the midfielder remains focused on the controllables, believing that the quality within the squad is enough to push higher as the season progresses.

The midfielder is ready for a Boxing Day clash.

“We can only control the next game,” Skipp continued. “Training and making sure that we prepare right for each individual game.

“I think we have to be ambitious because we’ve definitely got players that are capable of pushing on. With the attacking players we’ve got, we always feel like can create chances and score goals.

“I think the key for us now is to be more consistent. We know what we’re capable of so we just need to keep working hard and hopefully the points and wins will follow on a regular basis.”
