Goalscorer Aaron Ramsey cut a frustrated figure after our 1-1 draw with Portsmouth on Saturday
He opened his account for the Foxes during an encouraging first-half performance at King Power Stadium
John Swift levelled for Pompey in the second half
Ramsey says City must be more ruthless and build on taking the lead with more goals
The Burnley loanee netted his first goal for the Club in the first half – a 45 minutes where City were on top throughout, despite Yang Min-Hyeok hitting the crossbar for the visitors.
John Swift, though, levelled for Pompey in the 58th minute and both sides could have sealed all three points, but had to settle for one at King Power Stadium.
It was a frustrating outcome for Ramsey, who says Leicester should have done more to turn their one-goal lead into a two, or even three-goal, advantage in LE2.
“The first half, I thought we were on top, and the stats show that as well,” he said afterwards. “I’ve just looked and I think we had 12 shots in the first half.
“In the second half, we had three. In the first half, we did really well, it could have been two or three [nil] if we’d took our chances. In the second half, we were poor.
“We didn’t start well and then obviously they scored and then they were happy to get a draw and we couldn’t get a second goal. It’s happened before earlier on in the season.
“There’s still [a] long [time] to go so I’m sure we’ll sort it out, but it shows you how important the second goal is when you’re 1-0 up.
“It’s not enough, go and get the next one, and when it’s 2-0, go and get the third one.
“We didn’t do that, they went and scored and then it changes the whole the game. In the second half, they want to keep it 1-1 and we’re trying to reach for a second goal, it makes it tough for us.”
While pleased to get off the mark in front of goal for City, Ramsey is already turning his focus onto the future, with two away days at Hull City and Millwall on the horizon.
“It's really good to get my first goal,” he added. “Obviously, it’s my second start, my first start didn’t go very well at all. It was good to give back to the players and the fans after my first start. I’m buzzing with that but disappointed we didn’t get the three points.
“Abdul [Fatawu’s] an amazing player and I know he’s always going to beat his man, or shoot, or get a cross, so I just gambled and probably gambled a bit too much, but I luckily got on the end of it.
“In the Championship, there’s games fast, so we can’t dwell on the fact that we didn’t get three points today. We’ve got a game on Tuesday, so hopefully we’ll get three points there, and then on Saturday, go and get three points and move forward.”
