Oliver Skipp speaks ahead of Saturday's clash with QPR at King Power Stadium
We are hoping to build on the 2-0 win over Bristol City and widen the gap to the bottom three
We rose to 21st in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday, ending our wait for a league win
Skipp doesn't want to discuss the prospect of a win too much, instead focusing on how to achieve it
We entertain the Hoops at King Power Stadium for a 3pm GMT kick-off on Saturday, aiming to end the week with another victory after overcoming Bristol City at home on Tuesday.
With a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town last weekend as well, a victory would make it a seven-point week for the Foxes, but Skipp says nobody’s getting ahead of themselves in the squad – fully knowledgeable of the fact that we need to earn the points this weekend.
Speaking in the build-up to the clash, the former Tottenham midfielder said: “Any team in this league can produce moments so we’ve got to be diligent and aware of the opposition’s threats while understanding that, if we play to the level that we know we can and with the players we have, that we can definitely win the game.
“We know, with the situation we’re in, we need to continue to produce big performances and to show belief and personality.
“Everyone knows the situation we’re in and the season’s not been what anyone would have wanted, but these are the moments where people have to stand up when it does get difficult.
“It would massive [to win], but there’s no point thinking about the win. It’s all about the performance because that will produce the win. We’re not thinking ahead.
“We’ve just got to concentrate on ourselves and as individual, as a team, as a whole squad. It’s nice now because we’ve got more bodies back.
“The guys that come on, the guys that aren’t even in the squad, are really pushing. Credit to the young players because it’s been difficult in the last few games because they haven’t had as many minutes as they might want but they’re pushing every day in training to ensure that standards are high.
“There’s a lot of credit to the players who perhaps haven’t played as many minutes but they’re really pushing and keeping competition really high.”
Skipp was particularly pleased to help send the Blue Army home happy on Tuesday night and is now eager to get that feeling again at full-time on Saturday.
“It was really nice after the game,” he added. “The fans haven’t had many games this season where they’ve been proud of the performance.
“So it was nice to see the togetherness with the players and everyone standing together as one after the game.
“We haven’t delivered as players and we’ve got to be the ones that create the atmosphere in the stadium, that start faster, to create that buzz in the stadium.
“We’ve seen it when we have done it this season. The fans will be with us and we’re very grateful for that because we appreciate it's been really difficult this season. They’re still with us, still driving us forward, they’ll be really important again at the weekend.”
