Earlier this year, through the VS Foundation, we confirmed exclusive matchdays for our supported charities, which are: Heartwize, LOROS Hospice, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, and Leicester Hospitals Charity. This weekend, the work of Rainbows will be celebrated, with the Hospice supporting more than 750 babies, children, young people and their families across the East Midlands who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
Founded in memory of Laura Moore, Rainbows provides holistic, compassionate care and creates lasting memories for families. The charity offers a range of services including symptom management, end-of-life care, bereavement support and various therapies aimed at enhancing the quality of life.
Funds raised by fans on matchday will support the build of the Adventure GreenGarden at Rainbows, an area designed for babies, children, young people and their families to enjoy the great outdoors and make lasting memories at the Hospice.
Leicester City Chief Executive Susan Whelan said: “We have a very proud history of supporting important community causes, repaying the faith and the backing of our communities by celebrating and raising funds for charities that make an enormous difference to the lives of people in Leicestershire.
“Supporting Rainbows is a continuation of that commitment, ensuring families across our region receive the care and support they need.
“It was the very reason we created The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation, and it will continue to be its guiding principle.”
Rainbows cares for hundreds of families every year who have a baby, child or young person with a serious or terminal illness that means that their lives will be shorter than most.
The charity supports every baby, child and young person to fulfil their potential, and helps families make the most of every precious moment, while capturing memories and keepsakes to treasure.
Rainbows Chief Executive Jane Burns said: “We have a great relationship with Leicester City and are truly delighted to have the support of the Club and its fans once again for this fixture.
“Rainbows has helped thousands of families across the East Midlands over the past 31 years, and more recently we’ve worked hard to increase our reach so we can be there for as many babies, children and young people as possible.
“We know these challenging economic times are difficult for everyone, so we really do appreciate everything people do for us.”
