The event at LCFC Training Ground in Seagrave formed part of our activities ahead of tomorrow’s 5000/1 Anniversary Match at King Power Stadium, which will celebrate our unforgettable title triumph while supporting local causes. A host of former City favourites worked alongside participants from a range of LCitC programmes, taking part in football drills before joining in with small-sided matches on our training pitches.
Club captain Wes Morgan was joined by Danny Drinkwater, Ben Hamer, Paul Konchesky and David Nugent to support five primary school-aged children who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and engagement across our skills centres and football camps.
Meanwhile, Robert Huth, Christian Fuchs, Marc Albrighton, Sean St Ledger and Nathan Dyer spent time with five secondary school-aged participants from the Young Carers programme, offering encouragement and creating lasting memories.
A third group featuring Yohan Benalouane, Liam Moore, Conrad Logan, Jeffrey Schlupp and Leonardo Ulloa worked with 10 participants from the Active Women project, which aims to increase ethnically diverse women’s engagement in football-related activities.
Throughout the session, which was also watched on by iconic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and title-winner Demarai Gray, participants had the opportunity to learn from our former stars as they enjoyed a unique experience alongside some of the heroes behind our remarkable Premier League success.
Net proceeds from tomorrow’s game will support local causes through the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation, benefiting Leicester City in the Community and the charity’s work across our region.
