Leicester City host Peterborough United in Sky Bet League One on Saturday (3pm kick-off)
Christian McFarlane’s readiness for the game will be assessed over the coming 24 hours
The England youth international picked up a knock at Stevenage in the Jersey Mike’s Trophy on Tuesday
Conor Chaplin and Will Smallbone are ‘really close’ to being named in a Foxes squad

We entertain Posh in Sky Bet League One in a 3pm kick-off following the international break, in which McFarlane represented England’s Under-20s.

The 19-year-old started for us in Tuesday’s Jersey Mike’s Trophy reverse at Stevenage but picked up a ‘knock’ in that contest at SPORTA Arena.

The likes of Harry Souttar, Wes Burns, Liam Cullen and Dai Cornell – and all of our internationals – have since returned after representing their nations over the past fortnight.

It gives Russell Martin options ahead of tackling Robbie Savage’s Peterborough outfit, but he may be without full-back McFarlane for the Filbert Way clash.

“Everyone’s back, everyone’s trained,” the Manager told reporters on Friday. “Christian picked up a knock on Tuesday, so he’s maybe a bit doubtful for tomorrow.

“We’ll have to wait and see in the morning. He didn’t do too much today.”

Summer signing Conor Chaplin has been out since the goalless draw at MK Dons in late August, but is close to a return, while Will Smallbone is nearing a debut after joining us last week too.

“Conor Chaplin’s really close, Will Smallbone’s really close,” Martin continued. “Hopefully they’ll be in the squad very soon.

“We’ll have to make a decision on that. If not this week, then [maybe] next week.”

Tickets for Saturday's clash with Peterborough remain on sale online.
