  • The visit formed the launch of the Premier League Primary Stars virtual challenge
The visit to Seagrave combined football, physical activity and learning as the youngsters had the opportunity to experience life at Leicester City, meet players and enjoy a range of fun games.
The day started with a special Q&A activity in the King Power Centre with First Team players Will Alves and Olabade Aluko, who fielded questions about their careers and journeys to becoming professional footballers.
The duo gave tips and advice to pupils and discussed their rise into senior football and what it takes to pursue a career in the game.

Thomas Twigg, Premier League Primary Stars Project Coordinator for Leicester City in the Community, said: “It was fantastic to welcome the pupils to Seagrave to give them an experience that brought Primary Stars to life. Meeting Will and Olabade and hearing their stories gave them a chance to see what can be achieved through hard work, dedication and believing in yourself.
“The day was also a great way to launch our new Premier League Primary Stars virtual challenge, which the children can take back to school to help inspire them to be active, learn new skills and develop their confidence on and off the pitch.”
Following the Q&A activity, pupils headed into the indoor pitch to take part in a mix of activities, including football rounders, dodgeball and mini five-a-side matches.
The group then had the opportunity to take a tour of LCFC Training Ground, giving them a closer look at the facilities used by our players and staff.

Tom Jones, Year 6 Teacher at St. Mary’s Fields Academy, said: “To be able to bring our Primary Stars delivery to Seagrave and for our children to take what they have been learning to the pitches here has been a fantastic experience. It has created so many wonderful memories for them.
“The opportunity to also hear about Will and Olabade’s journeys was so inspiring and helped show there are different pathways and opportunities within football.”
The visit also marked the launch of the Premier League Primary Stars virtual challenge, which will provide the pupils with an opportunity to continue engaging with Premier League Primary Stars beyond the visit to Seagrave, combining football-inspired activities with opportunities to develop important skills.
Primary Stars is the Premier League’s primary school education programme, using the power of football to inspire children aged five to 11 to be active and develop essential skills. The project also supports learning both in the classroom and through physical activity.
