Stephy Mavididi could make his return following injury
Bobby De Cordova-Reid (hamstring) remains out, however
We head to The Den on Saturday for a 3pm kick-off against the south London club, looking to bounce back from the midweek defeat at Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship.
And Foxes winger Mavididi is in contention to potentially return to the squad, City’s Manager revealed, after he missed the trip to the Tigers, as well as recent matches against Portsmouth and Swansea City.
“He’s doing well,” the 43-year-old told the media on Thursday afternoon. “He has been training with the team and doing much better. We are going to take a last decision tomorrow (Friday), but the process has been very good.
De Cordova-Reid last featured against Pompey at the weekend.
This weekend’s trip to the capital will come too soon for Bobby De Cordova-Reid, however, with the Jamaica international remaining sidelined in the short-term. The attacker picked up a hamstring complaint during the draw with Portsmouth last weekend.
“He will not be fit as he’s got a small hamstring issue,” the Spaniard confirmed. “It shouldn’t be too long, but he will not be ready for then (Saturday).”
With this the third game in just eight days, managing the players’ workload, particularly those who are coming back from injury, and balancing minutes between the squad, is an important factor to consider, the Manager believes.
He added: "Obviously, with the help of performance and all the medical team, when you check the amount of injuries we’ve had so far, I think it shows there is a good job behind the scenes.
“When a result is good, no one thinks about that. When a result is not that good, everybody starts to question decisions. I will not risk at this stage of the season players that we could eventually lose for four or six weeks. Then it would be a bad decision but there is definitely work behind the scenes.”
