Aaron Ramsey, Asmir Begovic and Muzzy Izzet surprise Christine Winder
The trio met the 87-year-old at Cedar Mews care home in Birstall
Muzzy is her all-time favourite Leicester City player
She has supported the Foxes since the 1960s
The 87-year-old has followed the Foxes since the 1960s, supporting us through the generations and holding a Season Ticket for many years before moving to Cedar Mews.
She now listens to every game on the radio - cheering us on as passionately as ever from her care home in Birstall.
And unbeknown to Christine, staff at Cedar Mews arranged for an early Christmas surprise as Muzzy, her favourite-ever Leicester City player, along with Aaron and Asmir, walked through her door, leaving her stunned and delighted - plus a little emotional!
What followed was an afternoon of laughter and treasured memories as Muzzy reminisced and shared tales about his time with the Foxes, while Asmir and Aaron chatted about the season so far and how they’ve settled into life at the Club since joining in the summer.
Christine spoke fondly about the matches she had attended over decades at Filbert Street and King Power Stadium, proudly recalling exciting games and the camaraderie she enjoyed with supporters.
Muzzy said: “Christine’s love for our Club is inspiring. To meet someone who has supported us for more than 60 years means everything. She’s part of our history and it was an absolute honour to meet her.
“Being able to come here and spend time with her, share a few laughs and see the joy on her face is something I’ll never forget.”
The trio brought Christmas gifts on behalf of the Club, presenting them to Christine as a token of appreciation for her lifetime of support.
She said: “I’ve supported Leicester City for as long as I can remember. I love this club and listen to every game on my radio.
“Seeing Muzzy made me feel like I was back at Filbert Street. The three of them were all so kind. I’ll remember this day forever. It was a wonderful Christmas surprise.”
Christine’s emotions were shared by Niya Patel, Events Manager at Cedar Mews, who said it was a special day for the home.
“This has been an amazing day. Christine is honestly one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and she absolutely loves Leicester City.
“We’re so grateful to the Club for their support and to Aaron, Asmir and Muzzy for coming along to spend time with Christine.
“I could tell just how much everything meant to Christine and it was wonderful to see her so happy. It’s a day we’ll all never forget.”
