The young Foxes headed up to the North East off the back of a convincing league victory over Reading at the weekend, but were unable to follow it up with another win on the road.
Sam Pinnington's first-half opener had the Magpies ahead at the interval and Sam O'Donovan doubled that advantage just before the hour-mark at Newcastle United Academy.
Lorenz Hutchinson got City back in the contest 10 minutes later, but the side coached by Adam Barradell were dealt another blow when Mohamed Waddani struck a third for the home side.
Luqman Aideed put us within one goal again with five minutes to play, but it wouldn't be enough to leave Newcastle with any PL Cup points to show for the efforts and stoppage-time saw Leicester pair David Anugo and Alpha Diallo both receive red cards.
With two Group B games left to play in the competition, City will face Liverpool in October and Aston Villa in November, but before then it's back to U18 Premier League South duties on Saturday, hosting West Ham United at LCFC Training Ground (12pm BST kick-off).
The details...
City: Stretton, Jacklin (Simons 72'), Diallo, Armour Dignum (Adedeji 56'), Daniels; Boothe, Manyumba, Aideed; Carr (Anugo 59'), Fletcher (Owusu 59'); Hutchinson.
Unused sub: Marson.
Goals: Hutchinson 68', Aideed 85'.
