Coming off the back of a 3-3 home draw with Blackburn Rovers four days earlier, the young Foxes were a goal down early on at Aggborough Stadium, when Fletcher Holman opened the scoring for the hosts inside 11 minutes.
Leicester responded before the break; Wanya Marçal finding the equaliser, ahead of Amani Richards edging us in front soon after half-time.
Jake Evans quickly made it 3-1, but that's as good as it got for the side coached by Leon McSweeney. Wolves pulled one back with just over a quarter of an hour to play through Saheed Oluwapelumi Olagunji and soon equalised, courtesy of Ethan Sutherland's finish.
Level heading into the final minute of normal time, it would be Wolves who snatched victory, via Daniel Ángel Enguru Mangue's last-gasp goal.
It leaves us 13th in the table, on eight points from the opening six matches, with our next PL2 fixture against Southampton on Saturday 25 October (1pm kick-off). Before then, it's a meeting with Forest Green Rovers in the National League Cup on Tuesday 21 October (7pm kick-off).
The details...
City: Bausor, Cover, Aluko (c) (Golding 72'), Gray, Ali; Page (Otchere 61'), Donnelly; Richards, Briggs, Marçal (Onanaye 61'); Evans.
Unused subs: French, Khela.
Goals: Marçal 33', Richards 51', Evans 53'.
All times BST.
