  • LCFC Women were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool at the weekend
  • Beata Olsson and Ceri Holland scored at St. Helens Stadium
  • City remain bottom of the Barclays WSL with six games to go
  • Rick Passmoor shared his thoughts at full-time
Goals from Beata Olsson and Ceri Holland at either end of the match was enough to ensure the points stayed in Merseyside at the weekend, but our Manager was pleased with moments he saw from his team in-between.
He did, however, urge the Foxes to stay diligent, admitting it is the fine details at crucial moments that are making the differences in games.
“We’ve worked really well all week, but we need to make sure we transfer that on to the game for 98 minutes,” Passmoor explained post-match at St. Helens Stadium.

“It’s small margins, and about staying concentrated in those little moments, because that’s what cost us the two goals today.
“It was two teams at the bottom of the table; we’re fighting for everything but then we’ve got to have good decision making, whether it’s a pass or a tackle and there wasn’t much between both teams.
“We’ve got to find a way of staying in that moment out of possession and in possession, taking those moments when they come, being more clinical in and around the box, whether it’s the final pass or shot.”
Passmoor was disappointed to see Leicester concede a late second, after having more of the ball in the latter stages.
The result leaves Leicester at the foot of the WSL.

But after another tough day at the office, a resurgence is certainly needed from the Foxes, who now turn to this Sunday, when Aston Villa make the trip to King Power Stadium (2:45pm GMT kick-off).
“We weathered the storm, went in (at half-time) at 1-0 and I reiterate that we delivered our programme today, I think the subs had an impact as well when they came on and it’s about concentration.
“At 87 minutes we’re still in the game and had a good spell of chances and possession but we need to be clinical, stay on our feet and defend properly.
Attention turns to Villa this weekend.

“Momentum was changing, and as a defender, you’re reliable throughout the game. It could be fatigue as well in that moment that led to the penalty.
“We need to keep belief in how we play, who we are and continue to understand that throughout March, we have the capability to go on and win games and pick points up.”
