Liverpool came out on top against LCFC Women on Sunday afternoon
Beata Olsson and Ceri Holland found the net for the hosts at St. Helens Stadium
City forward Hannah Cain reacted to the Barclays WSL defeat
Speaking after Sunday’s loss on Merseyside, the Welsh forward struggled to find the words after watching her international team-mate, Ceri Holland, condemn the Foxes to defeat with a late penalty. Talking on the fine details that were reiterated by Rick Passmoor in his post-match interview, Cain believes results will come if they keep doing the hard work during the week.
Two Liverpool goals either end of the match made the difference.
“I don’t really know what to say to be honest,” the forward admitted. “It’s not a nice position to be in, it’s tough, we gave it our all and unfortunately today it wasn’t meant to be.
“We had a really good week in training, it’s been positive with good vibes, the team doesn’t break.
“We’re doing the best we can and hopefully soon we can turn it around and that’s the consistent message. We need to keep doing what we’ve been doing. We work hard in training and it’s about the small margins.”
Six games remain this season for the Foxes.
Still heavily competing each game, Cain believes Leicester have to trust in what they are doing, to remain at the top level of English football.
She added: “We’ve learned that over the last couple of games now, we’re not being battered in the game, it’s always close and we just need to take our chances when we get them.
“This league is tough; it’s the best in the world and a privilege to be in it so we have to bounce back.”
