Hamza Choudhury played an hour of Sheffield United’s 2-1 victory over Portsmouth at Bramall Lane on Saturday afternoon.
The on-loan midfielder started for the second consecutive fixture, helping to keep the Blades second in the EFL Championship, two points behind leaders Leeds United and three ahead of third-place Burnley, ahead of hosting Middlesbrough this Wednesday (7:45pm kick-off).
Will Alves made his Cardiff City debut in the Emirates FA Cup at the weekend, as the Bluebirds defeated fellow Championship outfit Stoke City on penalties in the fourth round.
The 19-year-old midfielder came off the bench in the 82nd minute, with the score at 3-3, before a 4-2 victory in the shootout to seal progression into round five.
Back to league duties in midweek, a trip to Portsmouth is up next for Omer Riza’s side tonight (Tuesday) in a 7:45pm kick-off, with just one place and one point separating the teams in the table.

In Sky Bet League 2, meanwhile, Brandon Cover was handed a full debut and helped Fleetwood Town to a 2-0 home success over Cheltenham Town to move into the top half. Playing as a right midfielder, the 21-year-old was replaced in the 75th minute and will now look ahead to tonight's clash with Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park (7:45pm kick-off).
Following a deadline day move, Oliver Ewing scored and played 90 minutes for Buxton for the first time as the Vanarama National League North challengers beat Rushall 5-1 away from home, bouncing back from the 3-0 defeat to Chorley on the midfielder’s debut four days earlier.
Only outside of the play-offs on goal difference, Buxton host South Shields this evening - a 7:45pm kick-off at Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
Arjan Raikhy’s Tamworth bow, meanwhile, came as a substitute with 10 minutes remaining of their home fixture with Halifax Town, but could not prevent a 2-1 defeat at The Lamb Ground.
Currently sitting 15th in the Vanarama National League, Hartlepool United await for the Lambs at Victoria Park tonight (7:45pm kick-off).
Defender Ben Grist started for new club Worksop Town as they defeated Ashton Town 2-0 at Windsor Food Service Stadium and now sit fourth in Northern Premier League Premier Division prior to meeting Hebburn Town this Saturday (3pm kick-off).
