With his infectious enthusiasm and unwavering commitment, The Birch has been a stalwart supporter and patron of LOROS for many years, with his allegiance and dedication to the Hospice reflecting our deep bond with the charity.
The Hospice has been a beacon of hope and care for more than 40 years, providing free, high-quality, compassionate support to terminally ill adult patients and their families across Leicestershire and Rutland.
Each year, they touch the lives of more than 2,600 individuals, offering services ranging from inpatient care to counselling and bereavement support. Their mission is to ensure everyone in our community receives the care they need during life's most challenging times.
For Birch, supporting LOROS isn’t just something he does as part of his role at the Club – it’s a cause he feels deeply passionate about. On Sunday, our game against Manchester United will be dedicated to the Hospice – one of The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation’s nominated charities for the 2024/25 campaign.
He said: “LOROS holds a special place in my heart. I’ve seen firsthand the incredible work they do for those in our community when they need it most.
“It’s not just about the medical care - it’s about the kindness, the dignity and the comfort they provide to families going through the toughest of times.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be involved with LOROS for many years, and every time I visit, I leave inspired. The staff and volunteers go above and beyond to make sure every patient and their family feels cared for.
“They’re absolute heroes, and we need to do everything we can to make sure they can keep doing what they do.”

Members of the Blue Army may have noticed The Birch hasn’t been present on Filbert Way for a few weeks due to illness, but he is urging as many fans as possible to support LOROS on Sunday.
“I’ve been a little unwell and unable to attend games recently, but rest assured I plan on being back at King Power Stadium and mingling with our great supporters again soon.
“As I won’t be at Sunday’s game, I’d like to take this opportunity to encourage our fans to spare any change they may have to help LOROS. Every donation, big or small, goes a long way to supporting this fantastic charity.
“I’d also like to thank everyone for their kindness and well-wishes over recent weeks. I really do appreciate the support and can’t wait to see you all soon.”
HOW TO SUPPORT LOROS
Donate: Did you know LOROS need to raise more than £9M of voluntary income each year to continue to provide services to patients, their families and carers?
So, whether you’re attending our dedicated matchday at King Power Stadium or simply looking to support LOROS from home, every donation goes directly towards their efforts in providing free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to more than 2,600 terminally ill adult patients across Leicestershire and Rutland.
Text LOROS plus the amount you wish to donate to 70480. For example, to donate £5 text LOROS5 to 70480. Please note texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message.
Volunteer: Volunteers are an important part of daily life at LOROS. The Hospice relies on a team of around 1,300 volunteers who give up their time to help with a wide range of tasks.
The Hospice has a variety of rewarding volunteer roles available in their shops, lottery department and at events. If you can offer some time, whether weekly, fortnightly or monthly, they would love to hear from you.
