Leicester City left-back pens new contract to 2029
The 24-year-old has been at the Club since 2008
He has made 109 appearances in all competitions
The 24-year-old has risen through the ranks of our Academy since joining in 2008 and has made 109 appearances for us in all competitions and has established himself as a key member of our First Team squad.
Speaking to lcfc.com, he said:“I’m really happy to sign a new deal at this Club. It’s a club that I’ve been at since I was very young, so I’m happy to have another four years here and hopefully more to come after that. It’s the team I’ve supported since I was born, really. My dad has brought me up to support Leicester City.”
From Leicestershire town Syston, Luke impressed on the left side of defence at Under-18s and Under-21s level, before making his senior debut for the Club in a 2-0 Premier League win against Sheffield United in July 2020, which saw him provide an assist for the opening goal.
His European debut in the UEFA Europa League came during a 2-1 win over AEK Athens in October 2020 and he scored his first Leicester City goal in a 3-3 draw against Braga in the group stage of the competition a month later. It was also a season that would see him go on to start in the FA Cup Final victory against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium at the age of just 19.
His development as a player continued with caps for England’s Under-21s, as well as time on loan at Sheffield United and Middlesbrough during the 2023/24 season.
That progress has extended into the current campaign, which has seen Luke selected in the starting XI for all our league and cup fixtures so far, as he continues to demonstrate his importance to the team’s future progress and ambitions.
