LCFC Women were beaten 6-0 by Manchester City on Friday evening
Vivianne Miedema scored a brace at Joie Stadium
Rick Passmoor reflected on the loss at full-time
Our biggest defeat of the season so far, there won’t be many tougher fixtures in the calendar than facing the Barclays WSL leaders at their place, who now go 11 points clear at the summit. Admitting it wasn’t a good enough performance, the Manager wants to look ahead to March, knowing that key battles are coming up for LCFC Women.
“It’s a real tough one,” Passmoor explained. “It shows you the gulf between top and bottom. They’re doing well, recently putting five past Chelsea so they’re flying.
Leicester lost out to Man City on Friday evening.
“It was one of those times where we had to try and stay in the game, and we didn’t do that. I think we’ve defended better in other games so it’s potentially the worst performance for ourselves this season.
“But we’ve got a big month ahead in March, so we’ve got to review, we’ve got to ensure we’re ready as a group of staff to help the players to have belief and conviction in their actions for the games ahead.”
Incredibly, Leicester hit the woodwork three times at Joie Stadium, once from Alisha Lehmann when the scores remained goalless.
Going on to say how any of those chances could’ve changed the narrative or momentum in the game, he hopes his side can bounce back after the heavy defeat, and work hard on the training ground over the next four weeks before our next game.
Leicester have a four week break before their next game.
“You’ve got to take them opportunities because against the top teams you’re not going to get many,” the Manager continued. “We need to be ruthless in those little moments, and we had some good play, and if could’ve changed the narrative for the rest of the game.
“We’re very aware of the situation. You’ve got to come in these games and compete and stay within the games when the momentum is swinging against you, so we’ve got to reflect on that.
“We can use this opportunity to reflect and improve, but after a result like that, you just want to get on the pitch again.
“It’s important that we take advantage of this time, and lastly, I want to thank the fans for travelling today. They were incredible and I thank them for coming all this way.”
