LCFC Women were beaten by Manchester City on Friday evening
The current league leaders put six past the Foxes at Joie Stadium
Ashleigh Neville shared her honest opinions following full-time
Admitting it is a tough one to take, the January recruit urged her new side to look at the positives and learn from the heavy defeat to a side eight points clear of the pack. “No one wants to concede six goals and we’re going to reflect on that, but in parts of the game we had a few chances,” Neville spoke at full-time.
“Taking them wouldn’t have won the game, but it would have changed the momentum, so it seems like we’re not having much luck with putting the ball in the net at the moment.
“At times we played some really good football and when you get those chances, you don’t get many against teams like Man City, so we need to be taking them. Hopefully next time we get put those in.”
City now have a break in the calendar with international fixtures coming in the near future, before we return to WSL action on Sunday 15 March, taking on Liverpool.
What is setting up to be an important game at St Helens Stadium, the defender is up for the challenge as we look to climb our way back up the table.
City have a four week break ahead of our next fixture.
Neville added: “We’ve got a break now before the next game, so we’ll reflect on this one, but we need to push forward now and for me, I just want to get the points on the board.
“The performances are getting better; sometimes with a scoreline like that it’s hard to look at the performance but it will push us on in the coming games.
“I’ve settled in really quickly and the girls and staff have made me feel really welcome. It’s incredible to be part of this Club – it’s a challenge but I’m looking forward to it.”
